Sony Gears Up To Launch Sony Reader
Electronics giant, Sony is on the verge of launching an innovative product that could change the way people access the books they read. E-books are already well-accepted as a flexible channel for distributing and accessing information, but ebooks are read more on computers or printed out. Now Sony is about to change all that by providing a portable device into which several books can be loaded and read from.
At about the size of a standard paperback book (and only half an inch in thickness), the Sony Reader is definitely not a load.
The Reader uses what Sony calls E Ink technology, designed to achieve good resolution to protect the eyes from undue strain.
The Reader can hold several loaded books at the same time - anywhere near 80 standards books - in its 64MB of user-accessible memory. There's room also for possible expansion. The Reader is versatile and can read most of the common formats for ebooks.
When this product is finally in the market, you may have to cough out some $350 to own one. You will also need to subscribe to a service to download the ebooks, but thereafter, have plenty of reading materials to take along with you. If you are really serious about reading (a lot of people include reading as their hobby), and do engage in some bit of traveling, this may be a good product to take a close look at when it's out.
