Neimeth Takes a Hard Punch at Pain, Hopes to Boost Earnings
Indigenous pharmaceutical products manufacturer, Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc has literally gone to war with pain, given its current Freedom From Pain campaign. The company marked December 1, 2006 as Pancemol Pain Free Day. The current campaign is to position its product, Pancemol, as the pain-killer of choice in the Nigerian market.
Pancemol is presented as an effective pain-reliever, with rapid onset of action, able to deal a containing blow to pain, fever and headaches. Said to be a suitable alternative to aspirin, especially for those with peptic ulcer or who show some sensitivity to aspirin, the company says Pancemol is as effective in cutting off pain.
Pancemol is a brand of paracetamol, but the manufacturer says it is formulated to deliver results more quickly and more effectively, providing lasting relief. While achieving this, it is still gentle to the stomach, ensuring that no irritations or other unintended harm is caused. (Continues below ...)

With the recent campaign, the company believes it is offering the Nigerian public a chance to put pain out of their lives and be able to pursue their daily goals and activities without distraction and discomfort.
What is clear too is that the company is keen to boost sales and raise its bottom line. Neimeth has done well to have survived the critical era, prior to the NAFDAC intervention, when local pharmaceutical manufacturers were almost driven out of business by fake and substandard drugs importation and manufacture. The company had similarly earlier weathered the divestment of Pfizer Inc from its forerunner, Pfizer Products Plc, when, through a Management buyout, the 60% equity interest of Pfizer Inc was taken over by the local management of the company. That was in 1997. Today, the company, renamed Neimeth, has stabilised and come of age. With a wide and increasing range of drugs , the company today has a sizeable products portfolio to drive its market performance. Its range includes Zedapam (sedative), Peptard (anti-ulcer), Pancemol (analgesic), Loxin and Necotrim (anti-bacterial), Neipec (anti-diarrhoeal), Unaben (worm-expeller), Miniplus and Normoretic (anti-hypertensives), Antimal (anti-malarial), Homtamin, Hemafolin and Becovix (anti-stress) and Ciklavit (a proprietary sickle-cell management drug).
Neimeth however needs to grow its revenue to boost its share value and market performance. Hopefully, as it convinces more Nigerians to "get a packet of Pancemol and be pain-free", a significant impact on its bottom line will follow as well.
